Hey, future newlyweds!

You’ve got your dress, your venue, and your guest list locked down—now let’s talk about something super important: your wedding day timeline. Believe it or not, how you structure your day can make a huge difference in how your wedding photos turn out. A well-planned timeline ensures that every special moment is captured beautifully without any stress!

Here’s a little guide to help you plan the perfect day—and get the best wedding photos possible.

1. Start with Your Ceremony Time

The ceremony time is the foundation of your timeline. Once that’s set, everything else falls into place. If you want natural light for your photos (who doesn’t, right?), try to schedule your ceremony earlier in the day, especially if you’re having an outdoor wedding. That way, we get beautiful light for the photos you'll treasure forever!

2. Allow Enough Time for Getting Ready Photos

I absolutely love capturing those getting-ready moments. The last few touches before you walk down the aisle are always so emotional. Be sure to leave enough time for me to get all the shots of you and your bridal party getting ready. Ideally, we’ll need at least an hour before you head out for the ceremony to capture those candid, behind-the-scenes moments. Trust me, these photos are always full of joy and excitement!

3. Build in Time for a First Look (If You’re Doing One)

If you’re planning a first look, I recommend setting aside 30 minutes. It’s such a special moment to connect before the ceremony, take a deep breath together, and let the excitement sink in. Plus, it gives us extra time for portraits before the day gets busy! With a relaxed atmosphere, we can capture all the emotions and get beautiful, natural photos—without feeling rushed. And the best part? You’ll have more time to enjoy your cocktail hour and celebrate with your guests!

4. Plan for Family and Bridal Party Photos

Family and bridal party portraits are some of the most important shots of your wedding day. To keep everything flowing smoothly, try to group your family members ahead of time. We’ll need around 30 minutes for these group shots, and if you’ve got a large bridal party, we might need a little extra time. The more organized we are here, the quicker and smoother these photos will go!

5. Take Your Time with Photos—Enjoy the Moment

A lot of couples feel tempted to rush their photos to avoid hiring a photographer for extra time, but here's the thing: when you allow for a little more time, it ensures you’re not feeling rushed and can truly savor each moment of your day. By giving us the space to capture your memories without the pressure, we’ll be able to create natural, joyful photos that reflect the true essence of your wedding day—allowing you to enjoy the experience with less stress.

6. Leave Time for the Unexpected

Let’s be honest—things happen on a wedding day. Someone might get lost, the hairdresser might run a little late, or you might get a bit more emotional than expected. Build in some buffer time between major events so that you’re not feeling rushed. Flexibility is key to making sure everything goes smoothly!

Wrapping Up: A Little Planning Goes a Long Way

A little planning goes a long way when it comes to wedding photos! By allowing enough time for each part of the day, we can capture every moment without the stress. And most importantly, you’ll get to enjoy your wedding day without feeling like you’re on a tight schedule.
